Academic Support

SIT also provides free access to Studiosity for students that offers 24/7 support for writing and referencing.

Health & Wellbing Services

We offer a range of free Health & Wellbeing services for our students. Physical, Emotional and Spiritual needs are important to keep our students happy during their study.

Located at the Main Campus we have a Health Centre with Nurses, Counselling Services, a Disability Liasion and Chaplaincy Services available daily.

24 Hour Computer Lab

We have a 24-hour computer lab available for students. If you would like access, you must go to the facilities department to have your ID card loaded with access (no charge).

Computer labs are located in B Block (B2:09 and B2:10) of the Main SIT Invercargill Campus.


SIT Student Lounge

The Student Lounge is a social space with SKY TV, a pool table, foosball table and table tennis as well as computers for casual use. A great place to relax between classes.

The Student Lounge can be found in the Student Centre in B Block in the Main Campus.


SIT Café

The SIT Café is located in the Main Invercargill campus and can satisfy your daily barista coffee and quick munch needs.

Daily serving a range of freshly made cookies, cakes and lite bites to sandwiches and delicious hot lunches or pies.

Indoor and outdoor seating is available.


Bungalow Restaurant

The Bungalow Restaurant is SIT's hospitality training venue that offers great food and service at an even greater price.

Enjoy memorable and delicious dining whilst participating in the training of our future chefs, kitchen hands, restaurant staff and managers.

Only open during certain parts of the year.

The Bungalow Restaurant is located on Ythan Street (Behind BP on Tay St).

Bus Trips

SIT provides bus trips that take students on day trips from Invercargill to Queenstown or Dunedin during the year.

To book a trip, visit the SIT Bookshop in the Student Services area of B Block.

Cost is $2 per person.


Childcare Centre

The SIT Childcare Centre is welcoming, friendly and safe.

We aim to work in partnership with children, parents/whanau to build strong, trusting, open relationships that will allow the children to become independent, confident, active explorers, contributing to their own learning in an environment that is filled with challenging experiences, laughter and fun.

Location: Corner of Ness and Eye Streets

7.45 am-5.15 pm, Monday to Friday.
The centre is closed for Public Holidays and 4 weeks over Christmas/New Year.

$6.20 per hour / $195 set weekly rate. (2018)

Centre offers 20 ECE hours for 3-5-year-olds making set rate $102 per week.

Includes: Morning and afternoon tea, soundproof sleeping rooms, inside and outside play areas.

Conditions for the set rate are:
Actual attendance must be 35 hours plus per week. The set rate applies regardless of Public Holidays, days off, shortened hours or teacher only days (maximum of one per year)

Childcare Subsidy:

There is a subsidy available through Work and Income New Zealand. This is based on personal circumstances and income - speak to your case manager.



The SIT Gym is located on the corner of Tay and Conon Streets.

The gym is equipped with quality fitness equipment. Programmes are available for fitness, rehabilitation, strength, health and high performance - see the SIT Gym staff during open hours.

You must sign in for every session and show your student ID card.

Membership costs for students:

  • One year (February to November) - $150
  • 3 months - $54
  • 1 month - $20
  • Casual - $5 per session

Monday to Friday:

11:30am-1pm and 3pm-7pm

Justice of the Peace (JP) Service

Free Justice of the Peace service available at SIT Invercargill Library

Wednesdays 12 - 1pm
