Collision Repair Tutor (Christchurch Campus)

Southern Institute of Technology is a well recognised provider of tertiary vocational training, offering a comprehensive range of programmes that lead to formal qualifications. We currently have the above fulltime permanent vacancy at our Christchurch Campus, situated at Hornby.

We are looking for a person with a minimum of Trade Certificate in Panel Beating (or equivalent national certificate). Having an Automotive Refinishing qualification or experience would be advantageous. You would need to have at least five year’s industry experience.

To be successful in a tutorial role you must have high levels of organisational, written and oral communication skills and it is essential that you have empathy for working with young people.

While previous teaching experience would be an advantage, training is available with academic staff being required to undertake study towards the National Diploma of Adult Education and Training as part of their appointment.

Personal Assistant/ Directorate Receptionist

LIMITED TENURE UP TO 12 MONTHS

Southern Institute of Technology has a maternity leave vacancy for a suitably qualified administrator to undertake the above role within the Directorate area for up to 12 months.

Support staff play an important role in the functioning of SIT and this key position provides administrative support and assistance to the Chief Executive and HR Manager where a high level of confidentiality is required.

It is envisaged that the successful applicant will have most, if not all, of the following attributes:

• Superior typing skills – at least 60 wpm

• Familiarity and above average competence with the Microsoft suite of programmes, particularly Word and Excel

• Knowledge and understanding of databases

• Excellent communication skills as the position requires liaison with staff and students

• Versatility and adaptability

• Effective organisational/time management skills

The successful applicant must also have the ability to work unsupervised and be self motivated as the role necessitates working independently on occasions.

Programme Operations Manager - Business

Southern Institute of Technology is looking to fill the above full-time permanent vacancy within the Faculty of New Media, Arts and Business, managing the operational aspects of Business and Hotel Management programmes.

Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrable skills and experience in staff management, industry relationships and academic development. Computing expertise, particularly with the Microsoft Office suite is required, as is the ability to show flexibility in meeting the challenges of this role. Teaching experience would also be advantageous.

As a portion of the work will involve liaising and building relationships with external customers the successful applicant must be able to demonstrate above average communication and written skills, be a smart thinker with the ability to use initiative and provide solutions.
