INTERNATIONAL ADMINISTRATION/RECEPTIONIST

Southern Institute of Technology is seeking applications from suitably experienced and qualified people to undertake a full time position as International Administration/Receptionist. The position is a vital link in providing unparalleled support to our International student body, staff and other stakeholders. As the face of SIT’s International department, it is essential that the appointee is comfortable in working within a super diverse environment, managing the needs of students from all over the world. The position will report directly to the International Administration Team Leader. 

This role requires the appointee to work with teams from across SIT’s campuses and various internal and external groups. As such the incumbent must demonstrate a high level of maturity, integrity, responsibility, empathy and patience. An excellent command of the English Language is a must. Being able to converse in other language(s) will be an added advantage.

It is expected that the successful applicant will have most, if not all, of the following attributes:

ELECTRICAL TUTOR - INVERCARGILL CAMPUS

PERMANENT FULL TIME 

Southern Institute of Technology is a well-recognized provider of tertiary vocational training, offering a comprehensive range of programmes that lead to formal qualifications. A permanent full-time position is available within our Faculty of Trades and Technology at our Invercargill Campus to teach in the electrical engineering trades area.

The successful person will be a registered electrician or have the ability to gain registration with trade or advanced trade qualifications (or equivalent qualification), and a proven record of achievement in industry, preferably with at least five years’ experience in the domestic environment. While previous teaching experience would be a distinct advantage, training is available in this area with academic staff being required to undertake study towards the NZ Diploma in Adult and Tertiary Teaching (Level 6), offered through SIT.

PROGRAMME MANAGER - SIT2LRN DISTANCE LEARNING

PERMANENT FULL TIME

Southern Institute of Technology’s distance education faculty, SIT2LRN, has the above vacancy for a Programme Manager to ensure the faculty is provided with strong programme management and staff supervision.

The successful applicant will preferably have a postgraduate tertiary qualification and also hold an adult education qualification or prepared to study towards it. Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrable skills and experience in staff management, customer relationships and academic development. Computing expertise, particularly with the Microsoft Office suite is required, as is the ability to show flexibility in meeting the challenges of this role. Tertiary teaching experience could also be advantageous.

As the majority of the work will involve liaising and building relationships with external customers the successful applicant must be able to demonstrate above average communication and written skills, be a smart thinker with the ability to use initiative and provide solutions.

PROGRAMME OPERATIONS MANAGER- CONSTRUCTION

Southern Institute of Technology is looking to fill the above full-time permanent vacancy within the Faculty of Trades and Technology. The main aim of this position is to ensure the faculty is provided with strong programme and staff management.

The successful applicant will preferably hold a qualification at level 6 or above in one of the following disciplines: Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a similar technical field. Relevant industry experience in a senior role is required and preference will be given to applicants with demonstrable skills and experience in the leadership of construction related training programmes. Computing expertise, particularly with the Microsoft Office suite is required, as is the ability to show flexibility in meeting the challenges of this role. Experience in the ITP or ITO Sector, in a construction related role, would also be advantageous.
