This position reports to our Chief Financial Officer and the successful candidate will hold a relevant tertiary qualification in accounting and have attained CA status. To be successful in this position you must be able to undertake annual reporting, financial and budgetary tasks, be self-motivated and have strong communication skills. Above all you will be an effective team leader with an ability to delegate and provide direction to staff.

 

Sound experience in excel is required and preferably three years’ work experience with financial and management reporting, payroll oversight, dealing with systems management, Auditor liaison and project management with the ability to take responsibility for end to end processes while having attention to detail.

NURSE EDUCATOR - INVERCARGILL CAMPUS

Southern Institute of Technology is a well-recognised provider of tertiary vocational training, offering a comprehensive range of programmes that lead to formal qualifications. The School of Nursing offers programmes from post-graduate to certificate level.

We are seeking applications from registered nurses with a current New Zealand Practicing Certificate, who hold a minimum of a Postgraduate Diploma or studying for Master’s degree in a health or education related area.

 

Expertise in the foundations of nursing practice and nursing knowledge is essential as you will be:

  • Delivering theory related to the practice of nursing across all levels of programs.
  • Involved in theoretical and clinical assessment of students and pastoral support.
  • Participating in research related activities.
  • Highly organized with sound knowledge of computers.

RESIDENTIAL ASSISTANT

0.66 PROPORTIONAL POSITION

Southern Institute of Technology is looking for a reliable and resourceful person to fill the above vacant position. We are looking for a person with certificate or diploma level qualifications with good computer knowledge and ability to problem solve issues as they arise.

Key job responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Compile ‘Welcome Packs’ and make up unoccupied beds for new student arrivals
  • Coordinate supplies and determine the need for maintenance, repairs and furnishings
  • Undertake cleaning of rooms, kitchens, toilets, laundries and storerooms if required
  • Check household records against assigned rooms
  • Assist with student check-in and check-outs
  • Inspect apartments fortnightly and final inspections before students vacate the premises
  • Other duties as assigned

This is a demanding role and prior experience of commercial cleaning as well as working with tertiary students, both international and domestic is desirable. You will have high energy levels and proven ability to work with a diverse population with tact, patience and diplomacy, particularly with non-native English speakers. You will need to be a team player and a confident communicator, possessing excellent interpersonal skills.

While this position is 25 hours per week preference will be given to those who can show flexibility to increase these hours during the peak times and period of leave of other staff.

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TUTOR - INVERCARGILL CAMPUS

Southern Institute of Technology is seeking to appoint suitably qualified person to teach Bachelor of Engineering Technology and New Zealand Diploma of Engineering within the Automotive Department at our Invercargill Campus. ELECTRICAL TUTOR - INVERCARGILL CAMPUS

HEAD OF SCHOOL OF NURSING

PERMANENT FULL TIME POSITION

 

Southern Institute of Technology is seeking to fill the above position within our School of Nursing. This is a key position involving academic leadership combining with supervisory responsibilities for a variety of programmes. The duties will include, staff and financial budgeting, building and ensuring quality clinical experiences for students administration, ability to teach nursing subjects at postgraduate diploma level , research leadership and curriculum development responsibilities.

 

The successful candidate will hold at least a Masters’ Degree, with Current NZ practicing certificate and Tertiary Teaching Qualification, who have at least 5 -7 years of post-registration experience. You should be able to demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills, clinical currency and credibility for the position, budgetary skills, and attention to detail and have the ability to motivate staff and lead nursing research.

 

As a major component of this role is building and maintaining working relationships with significant industry and other stakeholders, exceptional communication and leadership skills must be demonstrated. The educational environment is rapidly changing and requires a person able to react quickly to new challenges while managing change effectively.
