COLLISION REPAIR TECHNICIAN - CHRISTCHURCH CAMPUS

PERMANENT PART TIME

Southern Institute of Technology – Christchurch Campus is looking to appoint a suitably qualified person to support the work of tutorial staff by ensuring machinery/tools are in optimum condition and class materials are available when required, and assist in the removal, replacement, and repair of major components of vehicles.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Perform the following repairs or replacements: Minor electrical system repairs, Surface preparation for refinishes, Minor Cab Accessory repair/ replacement, Minor Cargo Box repairs
  • Maintain work area appearance and safety
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of related education and experience) preferred
  • Certification of completion of technical school specializing in the repair/refinish of all types of vehicles preferred
  • Working knowledge of tools of trade (including welding equipment, paint equipment, shop machines, and power tools) required

The successful applicant will be an energetic, enthusiastic and diligent person able to organise their time effectively while having the ability to use initiative when required and be able to work unsupervised

BUSINESS / ACCOUNTING TUTOR - INVERCARGILL CAMPUS

PERMANENT FULL TIME POSITION

BARISTA TUTOR - QUEENSTOWN CAMPUS

Southern Institute of Technology offers a short course in barista training and coffee appreciation at our Queenstown campus. Our current tutor is leaving town so we are looking for an experienced barista whom could continue teaching the successful course and share their skills with learners and new people to the industry.

The role involves a mixture of classroom lecture and discussions, demonstrations of all the barista skills and guiding students on their own machines to produce excellent coffees.  Although this is a mostly hands on course some teaching ability would be beneficial.

Skills Required:

  • Ability to communicate the same information in several ways.
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Flexibility

Coffee Skills:

  • Understand the Process of making coffee from grinder to table
  • Ability to demonstrate milk texturing to a high level
  • Understanding and teaching the proper “techniques” for making shots, steaming milk and pouring different drinks.

This is a contract tutor position.  There is possibility of the role being expanded to include teaching of front of house and F&B.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY TUTOR - QUEENSTOWN CAMPUS

Southern Institute of Technology is currently looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced person to teach IT papers at our Queenstown Campus on a part time basis.

 

If you have good communication skills and are enthusiastic about the work you do, now is an opportunity to share that knowledge and passion.

 

Ideally, we are seeking applications from people who hold a bachelors qualification or higher in IT/Computer Science and who have industry experience.
