Southern Institute of Technology is the region’s largest provider of tertiary vocational training, offering a comprehensive range of programmes that lead to formal qualifications at Certificate, Diploma and Degree levels. We are seeking applications from appropriately qualified and experienced people to fill a permanent full-time vacancy within the Environmental Management area.
The successful applicant will hold at least a postgraduate qualification, preferably Masters in Environmental Science/Management and have extensive experience in teaching geology, chemistry and hydrology at a tertiary level. An ability to contribute or be responsible for both teaching and fieldwork in environmental management, soils, groundwater, geology, conservation, chemistry, ecology and student project development and research is required.
There will be occasions when student fieldwork will be undertaken during weekends in remote locations and there is an expectation that the successful candidate will continue teaching links with outside groups.
This is an exciting prospect for the right person to join our teaching team. While previous teaching experience would be an advantage, training is available in this area with academic staff being encouraged to undertake study towards the NZ Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching, offered through SIT.
