Enrolments Officer, Resulting and Administration Officer - Full time permanent Positions

Southern Institute of Technology is looking to fill two full time permanent positions within their Administration Team. We are looking for experienced people who can show flexibility and adaptability to fill the above positions. The successful applicants must have a “can do” attitude and be prepared to undertake a diverse range of duties.

Enrolments Officer

A sound knowledge of computer applications and databases is required as data entry into SIT’s student management system is a large part of this role where attention to detail is paramount. Another key requirement for success in this role is excellent communication skills as there is considerable contact with our students who study via distance education.

Resulting and Administration Officer

You will need a high level of typing and data input skills, knowledge and understanding of databases, with ability to accurately record results, provide timely information to graduation organizer and undertake administrative duties to ensure timeframes and quality requirements are met by SIT programmes. Key requirements for this role will be effective organizational and time management skills, ability to work in a team environment or independently and excellent customer service skills. Above all you will be enthusiastic and self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills as you will be liaising with external and internal customers regularly.

Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrable skills and experience in staff management with ability to work unsupervised as both the above roles necessitates working independently on occasions.

Quantity Surveying Tutor Full-time Permanent

Southern Institute of Technology is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified person to teach on the New Zealand Diploma in Quantity Surveying programme within the Trades and Technology Faculty at our Invercargill Campus.

This role include delivery of some common subjects to Architectural and Construction Management students, development of teaching resources and assistance with the development of degree programmes in the future.

The successful applicant will hold a Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent) and have a proven record of achievement in industry, preferably at least 10 years’ experience. Membership of NZIQS or equivalent with knowledge of and experience in all facets of the quantity surveying industry would be advantageous.

Academic Operations Officer - Permanent Full Time

Southern Institute of Technology is seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced people to fill the above position within the Academic Operations Section at Invercargill Campus which will support SIT’s Academic Operations Team.

The main areas of responsibility will be Academic Compliance, Programme Development, Recognition of Prior Learning Coordination, assistance with SIT’s Academic Ceremonies and tendering for surveys and training projects.

To be successful in this role you will have a Bachelor’s Degree and experience in compliance and auditing, data analysis, report writing and project coordination with an advanced level of attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, sound communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to achieve goals. Experience in the tertiary sector would be advantageous but not essential.

Applicants must be self-motivated, flexible and adaptable and have a high level of computer literacy. A positive work ethic and the ability to work unsupervised are critical.

Financial Accountant - Full Time Permanent

Southern Institute of Technology is looking for a technically sound, pro-active accountant to join the finance team. You will be a degree holder in Accounting and CA/CPA qualified or working towards this qualification and ideally have significant background in monthly and annual financial reporting.

The key focus of the position is to provide monthly reports, annual financial statements, and Government reporting.

To succeed in this role you will:        

  • Have working knowledge of GAAP and IFRS
  • Demonstrate integrity and honesty
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and accuracy
  • Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience within an accounting environment
  • Preferably at least 2 years’ experience in preparing financial statements and a good understanding of corporate accounting software practices
  • Must be able to work autonomously as well as within the team and proactively contribute to creating a good team atmosphere
  • You will present with strong organizational skills, a solutions-focused approach to problems and excellent Excel skills with an eye for system and reporting improvements
  • Variance analysis and reporting experience

The environment is fast-paced and it is essential that you are able to thrive in a fluid environment with shifting priorities and ability to meet deadlines. This role requires you to be preferably available to start immediately or be able to start within 2-3 weeks.
