SIT2LRN Faculty

Due to increased offerings of programmes and student numbers, Southern Institute of Technology’s distance education faculty, SIT2LRN, has the following two vacant positions to ensure the faculty has the capability to provide strong academic compliance and programme management.

Programme Manager
As the Programme Manager will take responsibility for programmes in Life Sciences and Business subjects, you will have a degree level or preferably a postgraduate qualification in these disciplines. Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrable skills and experience in staff management, customer relationships and academic development. Computing expertise particularly with the Microsoft suite is required, as is the ability to show flexibility in meeting the challenges of this role. Teaching experience would be advantageous as would holding an adult education qualification.

The majority of the work will involve liaising and building relations with external customer, therefore you must be able to demonstrate above average communication skills, both verbal and written, be a smart thinker with the ability to use initiative and be solution focussed.

Academic Compliance Officer
To be successful you must have a tertiary qualification, preferably at postgraduate level in adult education, familiarity with academic compliance areas such as self-assessment, academic documentation and moderation. Above average organisation skills are required as is the ability to work unsupervised. There is a requirement to complete unit standards 11551 and 11552 as professional development in the first year of employment.

Administrator

Southern Institute of Technology is looking for an experienced person who can show flexibility and adaptability to fill the above full-time permanent position within the SIT2LRN Faculty. The successful applicant must have a "can do" attitude and be prepared to undertake a diverse range of duties. Sound knowledge of computer applications and databases is required as data entry into SIT’s student management system is a large part of this role where attention to detail is paramount. Another key requirement for success in this role is excellent communication skills as there is considerable contact with our students who study via distance education.

Hospitality Technician

Southern Institute of Technology has a vacancy for a part-time technician whose principal role is to support our tutorial staff within the Hospitality Section. This position is primarily 32 hours per week, however there may be occasions when the set hours will be increased.


To succeed in this role the successful applicant will need:
•Food safety 167/168 or a willingness to undertake training
•Sound knowledge of food products and equipment
•Computer and administration skills (Word and Excel)
•Basic knowledge of invoicing and purchasing
•Flexibility and the ability to multi task
•Availability to work flexible hours
