SIT has an exciting range of courses which can lead to employment in these industries with hotels, airlines, travel agencies, cruise ships and airports. Our graduates are now in jobs such as flight attendants, travel agents, tour guides, hotel managers and booking agents.
Our Hotel and Tourism Management programmes are designed to allow graduates to hit the ground running in employment. The Bachelor of Hotel Management is a business degree focused on equipping graduates with skills that are sought after by employers. Students are given every opportunity to experience the industry first hand, including an internship for the final semester of the third year. Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma courses in Hotel Management allow graduates to quickly become qualified and experienced in the hotel industry at a high level. The Diploma in Hotel and Tourism management is an ideal qualification for those looking to operate or manage a tourism business or those who wish to enter the industry.
SIT Travel programmes provide great training for your travel career. The programmes have strong ties with the House of Travel group and Air New Zealand, and these companies offer internships for top travel students. Small class sizes ensure students receive plenty of individual attention from the tutors, and regular field trips build a fun and friendly atmosphere, as well as invaluable travel experience. The Certificate in Travel (Level 3) incorporates a trip around major tourist attractions, and the Certificate in Travel (Level 4) includes training to make computerised reservations for domestic land, water and air travel, and domestic and international accommodation. Related aspects such as quotes, constructing ticket fares, building itineraries and producing contracts are also covered and more, giving students a comprehensive qualification that is well recognised within the travel and tourism industry.
