Southern Institute of Technology

The Bungalow Restaurant is Southern Institute of Technology's Training Restaurant, offering great food and service at an even greater price!

Not only can you enjoy memorable and delicious dining, but you will also be participating in the training of our future chefs, kitchen hands, restaurant staff and managers.

The Bungalow Restaurant is fully licensed and has a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available. Book early to avoid disappointment!  The restaurant is located on Ythan Street (behind BP Tay St).

Reservations for Semester 1 will open beginning of April, Semester 2, beginning of August.

To make a reservation, please email bungalowtechnicians@sit.ac.nz with your name, day and date of reservation, the time you wish to dine, and contact phone number. Please advise any alternative dietary requirements or if you have a limited time frame for dining.

Lunch Menu

Menu developed and designed by NZ Certificate in Cookery Level 4.
Service provided by NZ Certificate in Food and Beverage Service Level 3.

 

Handcrafted Bread & Dip

Main and Dessert $18.00

 

Mains

  • Beef porterhouse with horseradish pea puree, fondant potato and onion jam.
  • Salmon fillet with scallop Tortellini, roast tomato compote and cauliflower cream
  • Apple glazed pork belly, pineapple salsa tortilla basket and roast capsicum polenta
  • Vietnamese style Chicken and rice noodle pho ga topped with crispy noodles and vegetables
  • Lamp rump, kumera gratin, smoked garlic carrot cream and minted beetroot spheres
  • Vegetarian taster platter - Creamy pumpkin soup, goat feta cheese roll and tomato quiche

 

Desserts

  • Creamy mascarpone and cherve cheesecake, apple saffron pearls and thyme crumb
  • Crumble topped spiced apple tart; french toasted brioche and passionfruit ice cream
  • Chocolate mocha cup with marshmallow ice cream
  • Mixed berry trifle with rosemary scented shortbread
  • Lemon tart with raspberry sorbet

 

The Bungalow is fully licensed and has an excellent of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages including the F & B Mocktail menu.

Vault Café

The Vault Café operates in the SIT Arcade between Don & Esk Streets.  It is a training cafe that is run by NZ Food and Beverage Certificate (Level 3) students during certain periods of their course.
