The changes for the Reform of Vocational Education have continued and on 1 April the existing Council of the Southern Institute of Technology was dissolved, and a new Board of Directors was appointed for the Southern Institute of Technology Ltd. Under the new legislation only half of the institute’s board comprises members from the region in which the institute is located.
The new board appointees are:
- Alison Broad – Chair (Invercargill)
- Murray Donald – Deputy Chair (Southland)
- Murray Bain (Northland)
- Barry Jordan (Wellington)
- Darren Rewi (Waitaha, Ngāti Māmoe, Ngāi Tahu, Ngāti Kahungungu ki te Wairoa) (Queenstown)
- Mary-Ann Geddes (Queenstown and member of NZIST Board)
- Aimee Kaio (Kai Tahu, Te Arawa and Ngā Puhi) (Bluff)
- Janet Copeland (Invercargill)
