Hey! My name is Troy Kendall, I am an eighteen-year-old student studying environmental management and renewable energy at the Southern Institute of Technology in Invercargill. I have always been extremely passionate about the outdoors doing activities such as tramping, camping, and surfing but had always wanted to do much more adventurous activities like mountaineering and climbing.

Growing up in Malaysia and struggling as a child meant Southern Institute of Technology student Stella Rozario wanted to use her passion to give back to needy families in the community.

Rozario, along with 13 other classmates who are studying the New Zealand certificate in cookery Level 4, baked and decorated gingerbread houses.

Nine students decided to donate their finished houses to charities or organisations in Southland.

Zespri are pleased to announce that their scholarship programme is once again open for applications.

Each year, they offer two $15,000 grants to encourage New Zealand's top students to pursue a career in the country's fast-growing kiwifruit industry.  Recipients will also be supported and mentored throughout their studies as well as being given opportunities to network with industry leaders.
