South African shooting star Lenize Potgieter will add even more firepower to the ranks of the Ascot Park Hotel Southern Steel in 2019.

 

The SPAR Proteas shooter bolsters a formidable line-up of players committed to returning to the southern franchise for the 2019 ANZ Premiership season.

 

In a remarkable feat, Steel has re-signed its entire starting line-up which successfully claimed its second championship title with a phenomenal one-goal victory over the Pulse recently. The only exception is captain Wendy Frew who previously announced her retirement from the game.

They'll be interacting with a patient, but the patient won't really be there.

That's because they will be a hologram, and Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) nursing students in Invercargill will be some of the first in New Zealand to use this technology with holographic patients. 

The students will be able to visualise internal anatomy using Microsoft Hololens headsets with Pearson HoloApps software, using augmented reality, virtual reality and 360 degree video to "see" inside their patients.

Southern Institute of Technology veterinary students in Invercargill will benefit from working with dog corpses supplied to them by the Invercargill City Council (ICC).

City councillors approved a request by the institute for ICC to supply them with dog cadavers at a Regulatory Services Committee meeting on Tuesday.

Having always enjoyed cooking and regularly helping her grandma prepare dishes, Sharnee Gardyne-Palmer started working at the Gore RSA four years ago, waitressing, doing dishes and cooking in the kitchens. On graduating from high school, Gardyne-Palmer continued working at the RSA, finding she really enjoyed the cooking side of things and making it her full-time job.
