Economic Development Minister Steven Joyce has offered for a central government official to sit on the newly formed Southland Development group.

Joyce was in Invercargill on Tuesday and met with the Southland Regional Development Strategy Governance Group and offered it the opportunity to have a "top official" be part of the group to help with central government assistance for projects.
