Southern Institute of Technology (SIT), a business division of Te Pūkenga, is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Research Coordinator to support and strengthen SIT’s research activities. This role will suit a motivated professional with a strong academic background and a keen interest in supporting high-quality research and scholarly engagement.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The main aim of the role is to support the Research Manager in the growth and development of research at SIT. In addition, this role will provide additional support to staff in the implementation of research and research processes at SIT, particularly PBRF (Performance-Based Research Fund).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate systems that support internal reporting and external research evaluation processes
  • Assist the Research Manager with reviewing Human Research Ethics Committee applications and other ethics-related processes
  • Provide administrative and strategic support for research-related activities and systems
  • Advise and support staff in best practices around publishing, research dissemination, and presenting at conferences
  • Facilitate workshops and events that promote research engagement and capacity buildingAssist with the preparation of the SIT Annual Research Report and other research reporting requirements
  • Maintain their own professional development and research engagement, including participation in institutional research initiatives
  • Pursue personal research interests to remain active and current in the field

The successful applicant will have the following:

  • A Master’s degree in a relevant field
  • A PhD in a relevant field (desirable)
  • Demonstrated experience in research activities and processes.
  • Experience working within a tertiary Research Office environment (desirable)​​​​​​
  • Familiarity with Research Office Management Systems (ROMS)
  • Experience in organising and facilitating research-related events and workshops
