Southern Institute of Technology (SIT), a business division of Te Pūkenga, is seeking a highly organised, detail-oriented, and proactive individual to join our Academic Division as an Academic Operations Officer. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a dynamic educational environment and is passionate about supporting academic quality, operations, and event delivery.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As an Academic Operations Officer, you will play a key role in supporting academic operations, quality assurance processes, event coordination, and institutional reporting. Your work will directly contribute to maintaining the integrity and efficiency of our academic programmes, and you will work across multiple teams to ensure that students, staff, and external stakeholders have a seamless experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the development and analysis of institutional surveys and data
  • Support the facilitation of SIT’s Quality Assurance processes
  • Lead academic audits and compliance surveys as required
  • Coordinate the annual review and update of student handbooks, advisory committee guides, and other SIT informational resources
  • Assist in the review of SIT strategiesLead the coordination of SIT’s Invercargill Graduation ceremonies and support other academic events as required
  • Provide guidance to applicants, manage application processes, and maintain documentation
  • Assist with programme approval, accreditation procedures, and preparation for panel visits
  • Coordination of and assistance with programme development
  • Undertake a range of academic operations tasks and ad hoc projects as required
  • Identify opportunities for your own personal and professional development

The successful applicant will preferably have Tertiary qualification and the following attributes:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience running events, including budgeting and logistics (preferred)
  • Previous experience working in a tertiary education environment (preferred)
