Jeff is the Programme Manager for the School of Music and also maintains a busy schedule of teaching, research, and creative practice. His research interests include the cultural and technological associations inherent in sampling, the role of producer as composer, and practice-based/practice-led creative research methodologies within popular music. He has published in Organized Sound and written a number of book chapters on popular music analysis. He has presented at conferences in New Zealand, the United States, and Europe. In addition to teaching and writing he is an active composer, producer, and performer. He gained his PhD and Masters degrees from Waikato University and his Bachelor of Music from Berklee College of Music.
