An exciting opportunity has become available for an Application Developer to join our Business Solutions team. In this role, you’ll build, enhance, and support the applications that keep the Southern Institute of Technology running smoothly every day. Your work will directly improve how our staff and students interact with the systems they rely on.
You’ll be part of a collaborative and supportive team, working across the full development lifecycle—from gathering requirements and estimating work to building features, testing, documenting, and deploying them. We place strong emphasis on DevOps discipline, continuous improvement, and delivering high quality, secure solutions.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Design, develop, and implement applications that support essential business operations and stakeholder needs.
- Investigate user reported issues, perform fixes, and ensure applications operate reliably and efficiently.
- Carry out thorough testing and debugging to ensure secure, stable releases.
- Work closely with teams across the organisation to gather requirements and understand system issues.
- Estimate development tasks with the Team Leader and deliver work within agreed timelines.
- Produce clear, high-quality documentation and maintain coding standards that meet organisational expectations.
- Keep Azure DevOps work items updated to ensure transparent progress tracking.
- Monitor and assist with system performance and security improvements.
What You’ll Bring
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in application development (web and/or desktop).
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an innovative approach to finding the right solutions.
- Experience working with relational databases.
- A disciplined approach to documentation and utilising DevOps tools.
- A proactive, positive attitude and the ability to work effectively in a small, fast paced team.
