Bachelor of Screen Arts (BSA) year two students studying at the Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) have used lockdown as an opportunity to develop an online exhibition. Over the past two months, students and tutors have been developing the Pixibit exhibition; due to unprecedented times and as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, the students have made the exhibition fully online.
This event will be made up of a variety of different works and mediums created by second-year film, game, and animation students. Students Zeta-Rose Aldridge (team leader), Jordyn Wilson, Edwin Nicholson, and Bella Ranstead have worked on marketing for the exhibition, with Miss Ranstead’s avatars being used on the promotional poster. The assessment of the project was designed to help measure organisational and team building skills, as well as produce a finished project the creators themselves would be satisfied with.
Miss Aldridge said the timeline for the projects began at the start of the year, but the completion of them became more complicated due to the pandemic. However, she said the students adapted to the changing world and managed to accomplish an exhibition everyone will enjoy.
“Not only is this event suitable for family and friends of students, the public are invited to view the exhibition for themselves, online”.
Miss Aldridge and her team encourage the public to check out the different style of exhibition and to enjoy the work the students have put their time and energy into over the last few months.
The exhibition website went live at 5.30pm, Friday 12th June and will remain live for at least two weeks. The students involved also wanted to acknowledge and thank their tutor Traci Meek and SIT for making this exhibition possible.
