Casual Tutor Opportunities – Queenstown Campus
The Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) is seeking Casual Tutors to deliver teaching across a range of subjects at our Queenstown Campus:
- HTM509 Service Delivery Systems
- ACT510 Introduction to Accounting and Taxation
- IBS790 International Business
- HTM 610 Contemporary Tourism
These roles would suit professionals with relevant industry experience who are passionate about sharing their knowledge and helping students develop practical skills for the workplace.
About the Roles
You will deliver engaging learning experiences and support students to build strong theoretical understanding alongside practical, real-world applications in your area of expertise.
Essential Requirements
1. Service Delivery Systems (HTM509):
- Minimum Level 6 qualification in Hospitality, Tourism, Business, Management, or related field
- Relevant industry experience in hospitality, tourism, customer service, hotel operations, or service delivery
2. Introduction to Accounting and Taxation (ACT510):
- Minimum Level 6 qualification in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, Business, or related field
- Relevant industry experience in accounting, taxation, bookkeeping, finance, or business
3. Contemporary Tourism (HTM 610)
- Minimum Level 7 qualification in Tourism, Hospitality, Business, Management, or a related field.
- Relevant industry experience in tourism, hospitality, destination management, visitor experiences, or a related sector.
4. International Business (IBS790):
- Minimum Level 8 qualification in International Business, Business, Management, Marketing, Economics, or related field
- Relevant industry experience in international business, global trade, operations, or management
For all roles:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds and cultures
Preferred:
Previous teaching, training, or mentoring experience
A teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging classes and learning activities
- Support students to understand subject-specific concepts
- Help students apply theory to real-world situations
- Assess and mark student work in accordance with programme requirements
- Provide constructive feedback and academic support
- Participate in moderation and quality assurance processes
