Southern Institute of Technology has an exciting opportunity for an organised and customer-focused professional to join our International team as an International Operations Officer. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a dynamic environment and is passionate about supporting students from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Support staff play a vital role in ensuring an exceptional experience for international students. We are seeking a capable and enthusiastic individual to provide high-quality administrative and operational support across a range of international student processes.

 

About the Role

As the International Operations Officer, you will support the administration and coordination of international student activities from application through to graduation. You will work closely with students, education agents, academic staff, and external stakeholders to ensure efficient and accurate administration services.

The role includes processing international student applications and enrolments, maintaining accurate records, supporting visa and compliance requirements, providing frontline customer service, and assisting with student arrivals, orientation programmes, and departmental events. You will contribute to creating a positive and supportive environment that enhances the international student experience at SIT.

 

Key Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

· A relevant administration qualification or equivalent administrative experience

· Experience working in an administrative and/or customer service environment

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities

· High-level computer literacy, including Microsoft 365 applications

· A strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

· The ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and external stakeholders

· A professional, approachable, and culturally aware manner

· The ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement

 

The following would be advantageous:

· Experience within the tertiary education sector

· Experience working with international students

· Knowledge of Immigration New Zealand processes

· Familiarity with the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice
