We are seeking an experienced and passionate registered social worker to join our Te Ata Māhina Bachelor of Social Work team as a Social Work Tutor. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to both academic teaching and Field Education, helping prepare the next generation of social workers for safe, ethical, and competent professional practice.

 

About the Role

As a Social Work Tutor, you will work collaboratively with the Programme Manager, Field Education Coordinator, and academic team to deliver high-quality learning experiences that align with Social Workers Registration Board (SWRB) Education Standards.

 

Key responsibilities include:

· Delivering engaging and effective teaching within the Bachelor of Social Work programme.

· Supporting ākonga learning, achievement, and professional development.

· Contributing to field education activities, including placement preparation, liaison, assessment, moderation, and integration of theory and practice.

· Working closely with field educators, placement agencies, and community partners.

· Participating in programme review, development, research, and quality assurance activities.

· Promoting culturally responsive and inclusive learning environments.

 

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

· Full registration with the Social Workers Registration Board (SWRB).

· A minimum of five years' post-qualification social work practice experience.

· Current working knowledge of different practice skills and approaches including Māori and Pacifica and Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally responsive practice

· Member of Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers (ANZASW)

· A relevant Master of Social Work qualification or recognised equivalent.

· The ability to work collaboratively within academic and field education settings.

· A relevant adult teaching qualification is desirable.

· A current full New Zealand driver's licence.
