Southern Institute of Technology is seeking a motivated and engaging Specialist Science Educator / Academic to join our School of Nursing. This role is a unique opportunity to inspire future health professionals through high-quality science teaching while contributing to learner success and educational excellence.
As our Specialist Science Educator, you will provide expert teaching across health and nursing pathway programmes and nursing qualifications, delivering subjects such as anatomy and physiology, biology, chemistry, and other health sciences. Your contribution will help prepare learners for further study, professional practice, and successful careers in the health sector.
About the Role
You will:
· Deliver engaging and effective science teaching across Level 3, Level 4 and nursing programmes.
· Develop learning resources and assessment materials that support diverse learners.
· Create inclusive, culturally responsive learning environments.
· Support learner achievement through innovative teaching practices and educational technologies.
· Contribute specialist science expertise to curriculum development and programme enhancement.
· Participate in assessment, moderation, quality assurance, and academic improvement activities.
· Work collaboratively with nursing educators and academic leaders to strengthen learner outcomes and programme quality.
What We're Looking For
To be successful in this role, you'll bring:
Essential
· A bachelor’s degree in a science discipline.
· Current knowledge of biological and health sciences.
· Experience teaching science subjects.
· Experience developing learning resources and assessments.
· Confidence using educational technologies.
· A passion for learner success and creating engaging learning experiences.
Desirable
· A master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
· Secondary or tertiary teaching experience.
· Experience teaching anatomy and physiology.
· Adult, vocational, or tertiary education experience.
· Experience supporting learners preparing for health professions.
· Experience working with international, migrant, or refugee-background learners.
