Telford is part of New Zealand farming history and has been preparing students for their futures in agriculture since 1964. The majority of programmes delivered at Telford have a rural focus. As well as on-campus programmes, Telford offers a number of programmes by distance learning, as well as STAR programmes for schools, and Taster Days. Additional tertiary level qualifications in general subjects are now offered at Telford, to allow increased access to quality tertiary education for everyone living and working in the region.

New Zealand Certificate in Horticulture (Level 3) Landscape Construction strand

In this programme you will learn to identify and select plants for a specific landscaping project, work with clients, and establish a landscape plan and landscaping activities.

Learn about the factors incluencing organic production, the biotic interactions which occur in organic production ecosystems, soil and ground preparation for organic production, and how to control for weeds, animal pest, and disease in an organic production activity.

This programme will equip you with the ability to undertake interior design work to satisfy your personal needs and/or plan a career or enter into further study in areas which specialise in interior design.

New Zealand Diploma in Photography (Level 5)

The aims of the qualification are to:

  • Gain skills and knowledge that are directly relevant to working or further training in the arts/photography sector
  • Provide a base for learners to progress to more advanced studies or employment in photography
  • Produce dedicated, professional practitioners who hold a qualification which is well regarded by employers in the photography sector

New Zealand Certificate in Construction Trade Skills (Level 3) - Carpentry

Delivery: 

34 weeks full-time

This programme is a carpentry pre-trade course where students will complete a range of small projects as well as building a three-bedroom house. The course runs three days per week, students are also expected to undertake industry work experience and study for a further 2 days each week. A large percentage of graduates move onto construction industry apprenticeships after completing the programme.

New Zealand Certificate In Te Reo Māori (He Pī Ka Pao) Level 1

Date:

Delivery: 

Night classes once a week and tutorial arranged with class

Blended delivery

You must complete both Level 1 and Level 2 to receive the NZ Certificate in Te Reo Maori (He Pi Ka Rere) Level 1 and 2 qualification.

You will automatically be enrolled into Level 2 once you enrol into this course.

This beginner’s level Māori language programme will introduce the learner to basic tikanga Māori and introductory conversational Māori language. The programme is unique in its preferred delivery methodology of Ako Whakatere (accelerated learning) techniques. This programme aims to increase the number of speakers in conversational Te Reo Māori across all generations and cultures. The learner will examine aspects of tikanga Māori through activities specially designed to encourage communication in Te Reo Māori.

Get started on the path to professional project management by learning the core skills and techniques. This unit standards based Level 4 Certificate will give you the skills and knowledge required to contribute to the management of projects and work with others in a project team.
