All of New Zealand is on COVID 19 Alert Level 4

Kia ora

The Government announced last night that all of New Zealand is on COVID‑19 Alert Level 4 as of 11.59 pm, Tuesday 17 August 2021.

SIT campuses are now closed to all colleagues, students and other campus users. This will be reviewed in line with government decisions.

Closing our campuses means:

  • There will be no on campus face to face teaching until the levels change.
  • All recreation areas, on-campus food venues, break out areas are closed until further notice.
  • Only authorised SIT ‘essential workers’ (as defined by government) will be able to access campus during lockdown – they will be provided with letters identifying them as an ‘essential worker’.
  • No work-related travel for SIT colleagues until further notice.
  • Those in SIT accommodation will receive additional information.

Learning, teaching and assessments will resume once Alert Levels change:

While we hope we will be back on campus soon, please ensure you are prepared for online learning and teaching. Your tutors will communicate with you on this.

Supporting our students’ learning needs:

SIT is working hard to ensure this disruption has the least impact on your learning and you are not disadvantaged in any way. Students should keep in touch with their tutors and share any concerns to help us understand and support your needs.

Supporting our colleagues’ needs:

Managers and team leaders are asked to keep in regular contact with your team members to confirm SIT guidelines are understood, and to check on wellbeing.

Thank you everyone for your support of SIT and each other at this time. SIT is committed to playing our part to keep our communities safe and help end lockdown as soon as possible. This is a challenging time and it’s important we all work together given the seriousness of the Delta Variant.

Stay safe, look after each other and your whānau, and don’t hesitate to reach out to your manager or tutor with any questions.

We will continue to provide regular updates as more details are confirmed.
