The group of 13 delegates visited both Queenstown and Invercargill campuses on 5th-6th May, touring academic spaces, specialist facilities, and student accommodation while engaging directly with faculty and senior leadership.
In Invercargill, delegates attended a gathering at 360 Restaurant with the heads of faculties and the international team, and were joined by the Mayor of Invercargill, Tom Campbell, and the Minister for Tertiary Education and MP for Invercargill, Hon Penny Simmonds. This was followed by a relaxed breakfast at Brew’d Café.
The visit provided a comprehensive, firsthand experience of SIT’s learning environment, student support, and community connections. Delegates also enjoyed a light lunch on campus at Between Classes café, alongside staff and students, offering an authentic insight into SIT campus life.
International Manager, Riza Ambadar, said from the warm and friendly meet-and-greet, to viewing the campuses, it was a high-value visit. “Delegates were highly impressed by the quality of facilities and the welcoming atmosphere; it strengthens their knowledge and confidence when promoting SIT in their respective regions.”
Mr Ambadar added it also provided an important opportunity to create promotional materials with the agents and develop closer working relationships. “This is crucial for a market that is agent driven.”
“The relationships formed and conversations held during the visit are expected to significantly enhance future international student recruitment through these valued agency partners,” Mr Ambadar said.
