Range of employment options for Queenstown Hotel Management students

If you are looking for employment in the continually evolving tourism industry, studying in Queenstown could provide you with the qualifications you need to secure your dream job.

Set in the picturesque surrounds of tourism-mecca Queenstown, SIT’s campus has several qualification options for students looking to complete study prior to embarking on a career in either tourism or hospitality.

Diploma in Hotel Management graduate Priyam Sharma is now working as a Night Manager at New Zealand’s first smart hotel in Queenstown - mi-pad Hotel. Prior to completing the qualification, Piyam had never worked in this area, however, he says since completing the diploma he feels fully equipped with the skills required to succeed in his new career in the hospitality industry.

“The SIT programme heightened my motivation and created confidence in my own abilities,” he says.

Although Naga Venkatesh had completed a BSc in Hotel Management in India, he chose to complete the Graduate Diploma in Hotel Management with SIT when he arrived in New Zealand.

Naga says he is thankful to SIT for their support during the programme, not only with study, but also with adjusting to the Queenstown lifestyle.

Naga is now working at the Rees Hotel Luxury apartments as Duty Manager and says he is grateful to SIT for the opportunities provided to him through his studies.

Anshul Gupta came to New Zealand with a specific goal in mind - to study the Graduate Diploma in Hotel Management.

“I always wanted to secure a managerial level job in a five-star hotel,” she says.

After completing his qualification through SIT, Anshul started working in food and beverage departments in five-star hotels throughout Queenstown to gain more experience.

Anshul moved to Marlborough to study wine, obtaining employment as a Food and Beverage Manager at a luxury 5-star hotel in Marlborough, where he now manages a team of 15 staff.
