SIT students revitalise races

Third Year event management students from the Bachelor of Hotel Management proved crucial to the success of the Wyndham races on 15 March. The students helped to organise the activities during the day and also market the event for the public to attend.

Among the many great events on the day was the best Sausage competition which saw Woodland's Butchery, Edendale Butchery 2000 Ltd, Churchy's Quality Meats and Upper Cuts Winton go head to head to see who has the best sausage. There was also a Punters Club and own a horse for the day events.

There were also free kids' activities including fashion in the field for kids, face painting, bouncy castles, scavenger hunts and races.

The students were recognized for their efforts by the event organisers when they were publicly thanked in the birdcage in front of the crowd at the end of the day.

Tutor Patrice Spencer-Humm said “It was a great experience for the students to be part of to understand how events are run. It was also a great networking opportunity for them to showcase their skills to the public and potential employers for when they graduate.”
