A strong belief in the power and value of continuous learning brought Keryn Bilderbeck to SIT2LRN to undertake a Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management

Now working as an operational group manager for a large government agency, Keryn considers herself lucky to have had what she describes as three careers that have also featured elements of continuous learning through extramural study.

The first involved working in the financial markets in the late 1980s to early 1990s and included extramural study for Bachelor of Business Studies.

Her second career involved raising two children and studying part-time towards a Master's in Management.

After returning to the workforce full-time for her third career – working in government agencies in the human resources and health and safety field – she’s now completed her health and safety studies with SIT2LRN

Keryn’s a huge advocate of ongoing learning.

“It provides you with an opportunity to change tact in your career, strengthen your understanding in different areas and teaches you the discipline of time management.

“It also provides great satisfaction when you have completed whatever you have set out to achieve.”

Her study with SIT2LRN has proved invaluable to her role overseeing a team that provides advice and support around health, safety and wellbeing, property and facilities, and business continuity.

“The course was incredibly beneficial. As part of our team’s ongoing development, we will talk about changes in the health, safety and wellbeing space. I’ve shared some of the research I gathered through this course with them,” Keryn said.

“Study has helped me to remain relevant to evidence-based research and also provides a point of connection with people who are coming through the tertiary education system,” she said.

“I was looking to add to my qualifications in the area of health and safety and had been recommended the graduate diploma through SIT2LRN, which made it possible to do at a distance – and it was also super cheap compared to other academic institutions.”
