The uncertainty and ambiguity for the industry has driven tourism operators to take a serious stand for tourism sustainability. Awareness and education with regards to tourism sustainability is key focus that will enable you to make informed business decisions.

The course will enable students to develop a critical understanding of the impact of tourism and recognise the responsibility of travel and tourism operators to develop and follow business models that engage in sustainable tourism practices.

Week 1 Intro to sustainability and sustainable tourism.

Week 2 Quadruple bottom line of sustainability (2 bottom lines considered).

Week 3 Quadruple bottom line of sustainability (2 bottom lines considered).

Week 4 UNWTO indicators and Sustainable Development Goals.

Week 5 Accreditation, sustainability challenges and future focus.

Week 6 Best practices.
