Special Topic 2: Cloud Computing Fundamentals

The cloud computing fundamentals paper will introduce students to public cloud computing and provide them with the skills to be able to identify various cloud delivery modalities and the use cases for these modalities. The course will provide hands-on experience working with three public cloud providers and will include end to end deployment of application workloads to these cloud providers using the different delivery modalities. Finally students will be guided through designing cloud delivery solutions for various applications and will critically evaluate the tradeoffs between different cloud providers and the various cloud products they provide.

Students will research and apply chosen aspects of their information technology topic. Sources would typically include academic journals, text books, and credible web sites. Selection and location of resource materials will be supported by a staff supervisor. Content will include both theoretical material and applied skills development.
