They will be able to demonstrate knowledge of industry principles, as well as a range of complementary generic, communication and business skills.
Content includes customer service techniques for differing customer behaviours, communication including oral instructions and feedback in the workplace, non verbal communications, responding to customer complaints by telephone and face to face, the application of product or service knowledge, in store displays, occupational health and safety, consumerism, and selling goods and/or services in retail or distribution environments.
After completing this course, students may be able to pathway into further SIT study in retail, business, sales, marketing, leadership or management. Possible next steps include:

Preferably 16 years of age with four years secondary education. An aptitude for work in the retail and distribution sector so as to enhance likelihood of successful completion of the programme. Current employment in the retail and/or wholesale industry is required. Mature students 20 years of age or over at commencement of programme are welcome to apply.
For students to be considered to have satisfactorily completed the Certificate in Retail (Level 2), they should have completed all practical and theory exercises, completed all course work requirements, successfully completed assessment requirements for all modules/unit standards, and achieved a total of 75 credits.
