Southland District Council will sponsor two individuals to attend the New Zealand Outward Bound School in Anakiwa, 23 kilometres from Picton, to encourage and increase self-responsibility, confidence and motivation and to help build positive relationships with colleagues and others.
In awarding the scholarships the Scholarship and Bursaries Subcommittee will take into account the commitment of the individual, the potential benefits to the individual from participation and the potential benefits to the community. The applicant should outline his/her involvement with community organisations/groups.
The applicant, or if dependent the applicant’s parent/s or caregiver/s must currently reside in the area administered by, or be ratepayers to, Southland District Council and must have been so for a minimum of two consecutive years.
All applicants are required to attend an interview on the third Thursday of January.
Applicants are encouraged to ensure their availability to attend an interview on the day stated, as no alternative date will be available. (Date and time will be advised.)
Please note: Scholarship covers course fees only (for 27 years or older) and covers both course and travel fees for 18-26 years old.
