Welcome to SIT, the home of the Zero Fees scheme. The Zero Fees scheme means we cover your tuition fees, so all you have to pay for are the direct material costs for your course. Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) is a tertiary institution with campuses in Invercargill, Queenstown, Christchurch and Gore. We have a proud history of education and training across a wide range of subjects and a variety of levels, including postgraduate study.

All applicants must have achieved the school leaving age. Students must have the Certificate in English Language (Intermediate) / Cambridge Certificate in Preliminary English or Placement Test or equivalent qualification and skills.
For students to be considered to have satisfactorily completed this programme, and be eligible for award of the qualification ‘Certificate in English Language (Upper Intermediate)' they must have: Attended for not less than 80% of the timetabled class hours and other scheduled learning activities relating to the programme.
Completed all scheduled course work requirements and assessments. Successfully completed assessment requirements for the module, and achieved a total of 60 credits.
All English language courses are Monday to Thursday, 9.00am-3.00pm and Friday 9.00am-12noon.

SIT’s Zero Fees Scheme allows New Zealand citizens, New Zealand permanent residents and Australian citizens residing in New Zealand the opportunity to study approved programmes without paying tuition fees. The Zero Fees Scheme, where available, applies only to the base tuition fee attached to each programme of study. Direct Material Costs apply. Direct material costs are costs that relate directly to students, for example, to cover your uniform, texts, tools, activities and NZQA charges.
