The Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) is taking steps forward to expand its strong relationship with Hubei University of Education (HUE) based in Hubei, China. SIT signed a memorandum of understanding with HUE at the Shanghai World Expo in 2010 in front of the then Minister of Tertiary Education Anne Tolley. The agreement is currently for the delivery of SIT’s English Language programme on site at HUE and also SIT’s Diploma in Hotel and Tourism Management where students can then transfer to Invercargill to do a final year of study to gain the Bachelor of Hotel Management.

Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) Bachelor in Digital Media student Brandon Dunn has edged off international digital media specialists at the Autodesk CG Student Awards to claim the Oceania Next-Gen Gaming Boot Camp Award. Dunn who submitted a show reel portfolio earlier this year to enter the competition has now come away with a 6 month paid internship at Gameloft in Auckland.

The Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) hosted Script to Screen, a free film making workshop focusing on the web series format last Sunday 15 June at the SIT Downtown campus. Web series are episodic dramas or documentaries available online through TV on Demand, You Tube, Vimeo, the web series channel or a dedicated website.

Nine hospitality students travelled to Timaru to participate in the Southern Light Salon Culinare, held at Aoraki Pokytechnic, Timaru on May 10th.
