International Student Enrolment

Southern Institute of Technology offers international students a wide range of courses.

All courses approved for international students are accredited with the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.  This ensures each course maintains a consistent and high national standard.

How to enrol at Southern Institute of Technology:

1. Request information about course
2. Choose a programme
3. Read International Student handbook
4. Complete an application form, print and then fax to us at +64-3-218-1609.

The enrolment form is available to be downloaded as an Adobe PDF file here... or email us requesting a copy of the enrolment form to be sent to you.

When enrolling in a Degree, Diploma or Certificate programme, please also supply the following documentation:

1. A copy of a recent IELTS, TOEFL or equivalent English proficiency test result.
2. A certified English transcript of your academic records, and/or
3. Details of relevant work experience.
4. A letter in English telling us why you wish to study your chosen programme.
5. A portfolio of work (if required).

Please read the enrolment form and conditions carefully. Then send it directly, with a passport photo and verified supporting information to:

You may fax or email your enrolment form, then send the original and photo by airmail.

1. If your enrolment is successful, we will send you an offer of place and invoice for the programme.
2. Proceed by transferring your fees as stated on the invoice to the Southern Institute of Technology. As soon as your fees arrive, we will courier a receipt back to you. You will require this receipt along with the Offer of Place, to obtain your Student Visa.    Please note: Fax our International office to advise your bank transfer has been sent. Please tell us the name of the bank, the person who has paid, the name of the student, the amount and the date this was completed.
3. Applications for a Student Visa should be sent to your nearest New Zealand Immigration office, which can be located through the following link, www.immigration.govt.nz. Please remember to enclose your offer of place and receipt with your application.
   If you do not want us to organise your accommodation, you will be required to organise your own guarantee of accommodation.
4. Inform us of your travel details to us as soon as possible, so that we may confirm your accommodation arrangements and send you a Welcome Pack including maps. On arrival to Invercargill and International Department staff member will meet you and take you to your accommodation – there is no charge for this service.

English Language Application Criteria

All students must be over the age of 18 years.

English language requirement is normally assessed by the following internationally recognised tests – IELTS and TOEFL.
