Academic Administrator

Due to the increase in our international student numbers, Southern Institute of Technology is wishing to appoint a half-time Academic Administrator to assist the Programme Manager with the administrative duties associated with the Postgraduate Diploma in Business Enterprise programme.

 

Such duties will include: arranging part-time tutorial staff and supervisors, arranging and monitoring student internships, student enquiries, assistance with timetabling, monitoring student engagement with supervisors, tracking and monitoring marking of student dissertations, entering results, meeting coordination, word processing and general administration.

 

The person we appoint will hold a relevant tertiary qualification and have a sound knowledge and experience of working in a busy office environment, preferably at a high level. A “can do” attitude and the ability to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability within the working environment to undertake the varied range of duties involved is also required.

 

The successful applicant will have most, if not all, of the following attributes:

 

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Effective organisational/time management skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Familiarity and above average competence with the Microsoft suite of programmes, particularly Word and Excel

Chef/Cook - Grand Hall of Residence

The Grand Student Hall of Residence, situated in the heart of the city, is operated as Southern Institute of Technology’s student accommodation and currently houses both domestic and international residents.

 

We require a person with high level skills in cooking and baking to prepare, cook and serve meals Monday - Friday between the hours of 1.00 pm and 6.30 pm, for the remainder of the 2010 student year. Preference will be given to those who have the desire and ability to follow a menu, prepared by the Kitchen Manager, which reflects the ethnicity of the residents.

Part-time tutor: Mental Health

Southern Institute of Technology is seeking registrations of interest from people who would be available, at short notice, to tutor casually due to illness etc. in our Mental Health programmes.

 

You will need a relevant qualification in Mental Health, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or related scope of practice. Preference will be given to those holding an appropriate undergraduate degree qualification, however to teach on our national certificate programme a diploma qualification would be acceptable. Previous knowledge and experience of the mental health field is preferable.

Nurse Educators - Full-time or Part-time

Southern Institute of Technology is a well recognised provider of tertiary vocational training, offering a comprehensive range of programmes that lead to formal qualifications. Apart from the Bachelor of Nursing programme, the School of Nursing also offers a pre-entry to nursing course and a post graduate diploma programme. We are currently looking to appoint nurse educators to join our team on either a full-time or part-time basis.

 

If you are a Registered Nurse with a current practicing certificate, hold a post graduate qualification and have a commitment to nurses of the future then we want to hear from you.

 

We are seeking applications from registered nurses who hold a minimum of a postgraduate certificate or studying for Masters in a health related area. Expertise in the foundations of nursing practice and nursing knowledge is essential. Recent practice experience in Medical/Surgical, Mental Health, Pediatrics, Obstetrics or primary care settings is desirable. Above all you’ll be a good communicator with a strong aspiration to work with a motivated and committed group of students and staff.

Nanny Programme - Can you support our Nanny Programme?

We are looking for families willing to share the skills and knowledge required for bringing up their children with a prospective Nanny. You will have a student placed with your family to work alongside you, meeting the daily demands of family life for 2 weeks at a time during the day. In return your Nanny can give you time out for coffee, movies or just to relax! We are also looking for live-in placements preferably on farms or in the country for Nanny students in the last 2 weeks of October.
