On Friday 9 December a memorandum of understanding between SIT and AUT was signed, recognising the cross credit transfer for SIT Postgraduate Diploma in Business Enterprise (PG DipBE) students into AUT’s Masters of Business Administration (MBA) programme.
This is the first time that the SIT will be able to advance graduates of its current Postgraduate Diploma in Business Enterprise programme into another Universities Masters programme in New Zealand.
The MBA currently offered by AUT is undertaken by around 250 students every year, as NZ’s third largest University. The arrangement will give SIT students recognition of their PGDipBE and allow them to finish the MBA in just one year.
AUT MBA Director Ken Lee was present at SIT’s Tay St Campus on Friday to sign the agreement alongside SIT CEO Penny Simmonds and key management staff. Mr Lee said, "AUT has undertaken a comprehensive review of the PgDipBE and is confident that it is academically rigorous and of a high standard to provide a staircase to the AUT MBA."
SIT currently has a large number of international and domestic students completing the PGDipBE with the numbers set to increase in future years. SIT’s CFO Bharat Guha says, “We have 220 international students and 30 domestic students undertaking the PGDipBE each year. The MBA is a fantastic option to further their education.”
