Gore Southland Stags fans are in for a treat this week as the Stags are running a free open skills session for local junior rugby players.

The session is not only available for Gore fans, but open to all in the Southland region with kids aged between 5-13 years.  It is another pre-season session including children from the Eastern district. All of the schools and rugby clubs in the Eastern area have been contacted to bring along children to train with the Stags.

Rugby Southland Commercial and Marketing Manager Mark Wilson says, “The Stags are excited about having the opportunity to work with Junior Rugby players in Gore. Southland has the highest number of Junior Rugby players per capita in New Zealand and this is the breeding ground for our future senior, representative and professional players.  As such, events of this nature are extremely important for the future and the players are happy to put time and effort into ensuring the day is a success.”

The training session will be held at the Gore Showgrounds from 3.30pm onwards on Tuesday 14th August.
