Re-Orientation Week

One of the biggest events on the SIT calendar is nearly upon us as Re-O-week begins at the end of the month, promising to bring fun, food and frivolity, with student participation a must, according to organiser Ian Cathcart.

Four days of the week have planned lunchtime events held at the Tay St main campus, with SIT providing a bus for the downtown students to come over and join in.  Events will include three days of faculty wars, with students competing against each other from the three faculties - Health Humanities and Computing, Trades and Technology and New Media, Arts and Business. There will also be a team of tutors competing.

Guest appearances will feature Invercargill Mayor Tim Shadbolt and players from the Southland Stags, all joining in the frivolity that will feature obstacle courses, UCI Cycling Roller Racing, a wax-off and orienteering, among a multitude of other fantastic (and some slightly dubious!) activities.

Mediaworks Southland promotions manager Olivia Weatherley is excited to be a part of the upcoming O-week.  “The Edge Southland is amped to be involved with SIT's Re-O-Week for another year. It’s guaranteed to be an awesome week filled with prizes, music and a six foot sub all thanks to Subway.”

Student employment and activities officer Ian Cathcart says, “Re-O-Week will be a blast this year with more free giveaways and prizes for the students. We want to encourage more students to get involved this year and we’re really looking forward to having more students from our Downtown Campus involved with SIT providing the bus service.”

Re-O-week begins on Monday the 30th of July.
