If you study English for a maximum of 24 weeks or less, you need to pay $9,000 to be entitled to Zero Fee English study. In 24 week’s time or less, if you meet the English requirements for the mainstream course that you intend to study, then you will just need to pay the whole course fee per year minus $9,000. Please be aware that the main stream course must be a minimum 1 year full time programme. If the main stream course has a second or third year, you need to pay the normal full tuition fee for the second or third year.
However, if you don’t meet the English requirement after 24 weeks, you need to pay $320 per week to continue your English study until you meet the English requirement, then you can move to the mainstream course that you intend to study and pay the whole course fee per year minus $9,000.
Conditions:
- If you leave SIT after 24 weeks of Zero Fee English study, you will not be refunded the $9,000.
- If you undertake a mainstream programme of less than one year after your 24 weeks Zero Fee English study, you will have to pay the full tuition fee for that programme. No partial refund of initial $9,000 will be given.
- If you have to stop your English study anytime within the 24 weeks for any unacceptable reasons such as breaching the policies of New Zealand Immigration Services, you will not be refunded the $9,000.
- If you have to stop your English study anytime within 24 weeks due to circumstances that are beyond your control, you will be charged for the number of the weeks that you have studied English on the basis of $375 per week. You also need to put your reasons in writing and provide evidence indicating that the circumstances are beyond your control.
- The English Zero Fee programme is for a duration of 24 weeks starting from the first day of attendance and taking into account prescribed holidays.
- If you would like to have extra holidays during the 24 weeks of Zero Fee English study, you will lose the entitlement of the Zero Fee English study for the number of weeks you are on extra holiday.
- You need to sign a contract with SIT to agree with all the above conditions before you come to SIT for your English study.
