On the 21st June, the Elementary Hair Design 1 class attended and entered the Southland Association of Registered Hairdressers Competitions at the Invercargill Workingmens' Club. All 18 students competed in the Pre-trade Creative Long Hair section. They had been practising for several months and had 30 minutes to create the long hair style.
The students showed amazing skills and creativeness with their models and the large number of people watching this event couldn't believe that they had only being training for five months.
The students did their models' make-up and also dressed them for the competition.
They were all a credit to Southern Institute of Technology and the tutors were very proud of their efforts.
The placings were:
1. Sarah Hunter
2. Zoe Bethune
3. Rachana Andrew
4. Simone Spriggs
