Kia ora, Hello!
On behalf of the City of Invercargill, welcome to the Southern Institute of Technology.
SIT is the pride of Southland. As a Government Tertiary Institution it is committed to quality education, and I encourage you to make SIT your choice for higher education. SIT provides a dynamic, innovative and friendly environment for domestic and international students alike.
While studying with us, you will be able to enjoy Southland, New Zealand’s most picturesque region. We live in a region full of adventure and recreational opportunities through to extreme sports challenges. Not only will you be able to gain a world class education with SIT, you will be able to do so in the world class environment of Southland.
Invercargill has excellent sporting facilities such as New Zealand’s only indoor cycling velodrome, an Olympic sized swimming pool and a major indoor stadium. My council also helps to sponsor a wide range of events for recreation and entertainment.
You will also be able to enjoy our southern hospitality. Invercargill is a safe community that welcomes students from all over the world. It’s also a great place if you are considering living and working in New Zealand. Southland’s unemployment rate is one of the lowest in the country. As a result, we actively seek skilled migrants to come join our community.
So make the smart choice: choose SIT and Southland. I look forward to meeting you in Invercargill soon.
