A career in joinery can offer job satisfaction with practical hands-on manufacturing. The Certificate in Joinery programme can provide a direct pathway into the joinery and furniture making industries.

 

SIT has a well-appointed training facility with some of the most modern equipment available. Students manufacture full-size, quality, practical projects throughout the duration of the programme and have the opportunity to use a wide range of traditional and advanced computer controlled machinery.

Duration:

Part time night class only - Wednesdays 6.00-8.30pm.

Location: Invercargill

Produce your own furniture or joinery items using SIT equipment. All materials to be supplied by attendees. Entry restricted to those having either completed the Woodwork Machinery for Beginners course or a joinery/furniture-making trade qualification.

Duration:

19 weeks of night classes - Tuesdays 5.30-9.30pm

Location: Invercargill

This course will give students the knowledge and skills required to use portable power tools and to setup, use and maintain fixed machinery (bandsaws, surface planers, thicknessers, ripsaws, stroke sanders, boring machinery).

 

Perfect for those with no woodwork skills - Cost includes all wood and materials so you can take your creations home!
