This course aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to operate at an entry level in the field of hospitality across a range of disciplines. It will allow students to gain the relevant industry licences that are required in the industry, such as a liquor licence and food safety certificate.

This programme aims to provide a basic understanding of practises that result in safe food handling. It is for all people working, or preparing to work, in a food business.
18 weeks
This nationally recognised programme is designed to develop your knowledge and culinary skills and offers a professional level of training for those who aspire to become chefs within the hospitality industry.
SIT's classrooms are well equipped and the tutors are very passionate about their craft. Students operate the Bungalow Restaurant on campus for several periods during the year.
In addition to the National Certificate, each trainee will have the opportunity to gain the internationally recognised City and Guilds International qualifications (additional fee charged).
This training will help develop flair and creativity in the culinary arts deemed necessary to gain employment in this exciting and dynamic industry.
One year full time
Following on from the National Certificate in Hospitality (Basic Cookery) Level 3, this Level 4 programme allows the enhancement and further development of students' culinary skills.
SIT's classrooms are well equipped and the tutors are very passionate about their craft. Students operate the Bungalow Restaurant on campus for several periods during the year and are encouraged to enter national culinary arts competitions.
One year
Following on from the National Certificates in Hospitality (Cookery) Levels 3 and 4, this Level 5 Diploma programme teaches advanced cookery skills, and the expertise needed for working and supervising to a senior level in a commercial kitchen. SIT's classrooms are well equipped and the tutors are very passionate about their craft. Students operate the Bungalow Restaurant on campus for several periods during the year and are encouraged to enter national culinary arts competitions. This course leads to employment opportunities in the hospitality industry in fine dining restaurants and commercial kitchens including specialist and commercial catering. Graduates may also progress to further study in hospitality management at degree level.

This is a one day information session on how to achieve "The Perfect Cup".
Available part time only
This course gives students an appreciation of coffee. The course includes the history and evolution of coffee and espresso technology for today's café society. This course is targeted towards those interested in the barista field, plus those currently within the industry who wish to upskill.

2 days, 9.00am-5.30pm
This two day programme covers the unit standards required to gain the Licence Controller Qualification. It is compulsory to hold this qualification if applying for the General Managers Certificate, and is important for people working or intending to work in a supervisory role in a licenced premises.

First two days: 9am-5pm. Day three: 8am-1.30pm
Two days. Day one: 9am-6pm. Day two: 9am-1pm.
This programme provides theory based units. It is designed to assess the knowledge of people studying in this area who are responsible for liquor sales and service in the hospitality industry, and also for those requiring the knowledge and implications of the terms and conditions of the Sale of Liquor Act 1989 and the Sale of Liquor Amendment Act 1999.
It also helps people to be able to demonstrate knowledge of alcohol and intoxication, and the responsibilities and requirements for alcohol service in a licensed commercial environment.
