RAC101 Safety
A minimum of 6 credits is required from the following:
497 Protect health and safety in the workplace
21911 Demonstrate knowledge of safety on engineering worksites
26551 Provide first aid for life threatening conditions
26552 Demonstrate knowledge of common first aid conditions and how to respond to them
RAC102 Engineering Materials
A minimum of 7 credits is required from the following:
20799 Demonstrate basic knowledge of engineering metals
20917 Demonstrate basic knowledge of engineering materials
21909 Demonstrate knowledge of fasteners used in mechanical engineering
RAC103 Welding
A minimum of 21 credits is required from the following:
750 Demonstrate knowledge of electrical test instruments and take measurements
2672 Weld steel in the downhand positions to a general purpose industry standard using the gas metal arc welding process
2678 Join metals with the oxyacetylene welding process
21907 Demonstrate and apply knowledge of safe welding procedures under supervision
23959 Prepare and purge braze piping for refrigeration and air conditioning
RAC104 Tools
A minimum of 8 credits is required from the following:
2395 Select, use and care for, engineering hand tools
2396 Select, use and maintain portable hand held engineering power tools
RAC105 Refrigeration Theory
A minimum of 18 credits is required from the following:
19666 Demonstrate knowledge of ozone and how it relates to the refrigeration and air conditioning industry
22441 Demonstrate knowledge of split system air conditioning principles and applications
22442 Install and commission split system air conditioning in a training environment
22701 Demonstrate knowledge of refrigeration and air conditioning principles and applications
23959 Prepare and purge braze piping for refrigeration and airconditioning
RAC106 Refrigeration Practical
A minimum of 20 credits is required from the following:
3831 Assemble and fabricate commercial refrigeration and/or air conditioning system components
22443 Install and commission split system air-conditioning
22706 Assemble commercial refrigeration and/or air conditioning system components under supervision
RAC107 Magnetism
A minimum of 19 credits is required from the following:
15847 Demonstrate knowledge of mathematics and mechanics for electrical trades
25070 Explain the properties of conductors, insulators, and semiconductors and their effect on electrical circuits
25071 Demonstrate knowledge of electromotive force (e.m.f.) production
25072 Demonstrate knowledge of electromagnetism theory
RAC108 Electrical Service Technician
A minimum of 21 credits is required from the following:
2679 Join metals using the torch brazing and soldering processes
19355 Produce scale production drawings using computer aided draughting (CAD) programs
21913 Shift loads in engineering installation, maintenance, and fabrication work
22702 Install and commission commercial refrigeration and air conditioning
22703 Apply knowledge of electrical and electronics principles in RAC
22704 Maintain and service refrigeration and air conditioning systems
22705 Apply design principles to commercial RAC systems installation
